An appraisal provides an unbiased opinion of value that attorneys, courts, and families can rely on when making crucial legal and financial decisions. Divorce case appraisals are invaluable for divorce attorneys, as they bolster cases with documented evidence that establishes the value of disputed personal property and aids in asset distribution.
Each item is meticulously photographed and inspected, with thorough research conducted using various relevant sources of comparable sales data. BHA Appraisals brings over 40 years of professional experience to the table, examining multiple marketplaces and comparable sales to ascertain an item’s value. This value determination is not based solely on the highest or lowest comparable sale but reflects an unbiased professional opinion informed by a range of relevant marketplace results.
In situations where items are highly specialized, such as fine art or high-end jewelry, BHA Appraisals may consult with an expert in that field or recommend that clients seek a specialist’s services. BHA Appraisals provides a comprehensive report that includes detailed item descriptions, numbered photographs, and a professional opinion of each item’s value based on its current condition.
Depending on the intended use, an appraisal may establish fair market value, retail replacement cost, or liquidation value—also referred to as auction value. In divorce cases, BHA Appraisals typically assesses fair market value, which is essential for supporting the equitable distribution of personal property. Additionally, BHA Appraisals also offers insurance appraisals to ensure that clients have adequate coverage for their valuable items.
